McCon Engineering, Inc. aims to minimize the overall construction cost for the structural systems by adhering to several key philosophical perspectives.

Peter McConaughy consulting wth clients on site.Structural design flows from and complements good architectural design.

We work closely with the project architect to design structural elements which are integrated into the fabric of the project.  On projects not requiring an architect, McCon Engineering seeks aesthetic structural solutions which are constructible and economical.

Engineering review of renovation projectGood communication is vital.

Depending on the specific nature and scope of the project, McCon Engineering advocates a pre-construction meeting and other measures to establish open lines of communication between the design team and contractor(s) early in the project.  McCon Engineering remains available during the construction phase for consultation, questions, and field site visits where required.

Accuracy and clarity of the construction documents reduce construction costs.

The best structural design is of little value if it's not clearly and accurately conveyed to the builder.  For this reason, permit and construction drawings prepared by McCon Engineering, Inc. typically go to a greater level of detail than that required for conventional permit drawings.

The cost of a construction project generally increases with its complexity.  Accordingly, McCon Engineering seeks to minimize the complexity of the structural systems by using standardized details and uniform member sizes wherever possible.Labor is a major cost of most construction projects, so details that reduce labor often justify slight increases in material costs. For example, uniform member sizes and connection details usually result in less labor and reduce the likelihood of fabrication and/or erection errors.
